Release Date: 21 July 2008

Kitty Kallen made her name singing with the bands of Jimmy Dorsey and Harry James. After going solo her recording of Little Things Mean A Lot turned out to be one of the biggest American hits in 1954, staying at number one for 9 weeks! It made her an international star and sold 2 million copies. Her follow up recording In The Chapel In The Moonlight was equally successful and sold a million.

Although Kitty's singles release were pretty prolific throughout the 1950s the bulk of these have not been on CD until now. She recorded a mixture of popular standards such as Only Forever from the film ‘Rhythm On The River' and new titles If It's A Dream introduced in the 1955 Broadway musical ‘Seventh Heaven'. Another chart entry was soon to follow for Kitty, My Sweet Kentucky Rose.

In 1955 Kitty appeared in the feature film; Universal International's ‘The Second Greatest Sex', best described as a comedy western. On screen she sang How Lonely Can I Get? and recorded this and the film's title song – in a duet with Georgie Shaw - both included in this collection. While filming in Hollywood she made one of her rare visits to a west coast recording studio for the single By Bayou Bay. Later that same year Kitty Kallen recorded Go On With The Wedding another duet with Georgie Shaw. Over the next couple of years Kitty Kallen recorded a variety of material such as the ballad True Love from the film ‘High Society' and titles like Teen-Age Heart and Hideaway Heart.

At the time of writing Kitty Kallen has retired from the world of show business and divides her time between her homes in New Jersey and Mexico where she spends the winter months. She tells us she had no gimmicks but sang from the heart. This Sepia collection recalls a star with a fresh, warm, sincere vocal style. "Warm and Sincere" sounds like the perfect title for a Kitty Kallen CD!
