Jaye P. Morgan was one of the biggest-selling female recording stars of the 1950's, scoring more than twenty Billboard chart hits and establishing a sound and vocal style that was uniquely her own. Husky and low, mixed with a slight western twang, her voice is immediately recognizable and whether belting or crooning, she is capable of caressing a lyric and turning each song she performs into her own personal statement. Primarily jazzy in her approach, she has enjoyed equal commercial success with pop, country and R&B.
It is therefore ironic that as her talents continued to blossom in the 1960's and 70's, bringing her even bigger stardom as one of television's brightest personalities on such programs as "The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson, "The Merv Griffin Show" and in particular "The Gong Show" (a comical forerunner of "American Idol" and "Britain's Got Talent"), her quick-minded wit and outrageous sense of comedy sometimes tended to overshadow her considerable vocal skills.
A Jaye P. Morgan release has long been overdue and "Let's Fall in Love with Jaye P." features her 1959 LP release "Slow and Easy" in Stereo. In addition to the 12 standards, we have included her biggest hit, "That's All I Want From You" and showcase her versatility with another 15 Jaye P. tracks that range from early rock 'n roll to country and western; rarities from her time with the Derby and RCA labels including a version of "Star Dust" she recorded with her brothers (The Morgan Brothers).
